Assignment 3 proposal

Dance Campus:

The main idea of this assignment will be to "Mash-Up" a range of physical and digital process into an Architectural Intervention Installation for display. Following the main idea, I am proposing photogrammetry and Augmented reality as the tool for my "Mash-Up".
The concept of my installation is "Dacing campus", it applying some dance and music elements to hlep present architectures and to present campus is a power and enjoyment places, liking a party. Therefore, I will applying various rhythms to illustrate some architectural design features of different building. And operating the phicical objects, like: architectures, trees and steps move based on a rhythm in campus, which liking dance in the campus. By the way, The space that I will present is the campus' main road from the main gate to the steps beside science building, and 5 significant buildings beside the road.
The way of this installation's presentation is that making a 2D brochures, each page introduce one building in the pages and final page will illustrate the whole campus. However, when webcam focus on each page, the introduction of the architecture will be presented by 3D animation on screen in a creative way. By the way, this interesting method also can be applyed to present some related architectures together and to make the normal presentation enjoyable and funny in future design presentation.
Assessment Criteria:
Have thought and care been invested into the design and its process and presentation through technology experimented in throughout the course. Has the technology been engaged with in a creative and successful way?

Blog: Is your blog neatly laid out and easy to follow, with all task requirements posted to your blog?
Images: Are your images of an acceptable quality, showing thought and consideration to image selection and camera framing? Are all images not your own referenced correctly?
Text: Is any text you have written concise and informative? Is the text significant to your project, outlining aspects of your process that may not be immediately apparent through visual material?
Installation: Does you installation work? Is there a novel approach to the interaction between real life and digital content?

Final work

Sketchs and Concept

Concept: Geometry in Architecture design
The building that I want to present is Denver Art Museum which is designed by daniel. The architecture is clearly composed of 9 geometric cubes. Therefore, I argued this significant feature of the reality by applying 9 markers. Each one presents one cube of the architecture, so I can show the components of architecture. So in my final work, it likes a jigsaw. I just need move 2-D components, then can build a 3D architecture.

Task on Day 6

Based on my concept, I put the architeture to 10 parts. This is some preparative work for my final design.

Task at day 5

This is the first days' experiment for BuildAR. Firstly, as the image shows, I can't get the model on screen, even I have try a lot of building that download from warehouse. Then I daw a simple cube on 3D-Max and use my assignment 1's model to try and it work. So I think that is the problem of scale. Finally, I successfully put the model on the screen.

Final Work

Final Submission:

Comparison of Real object and 3D reconstruction 1

Comparison of Real object and 3D reconstruction 2

Render images of my reconstructed object.
(I forgot to take photos for my final printed 3D model, so I can't post my final printed object)

Concept:
In my final abstract object, I want to show an emotion of anger. In the final work, it is based on a interesting and cute object to reconstruct. As its rough surface with human figure, it is looked like a fighting soldier. For emphasize the emotion of anger, I add some thorns on the surface. Therefore, it looks very attack and powerful.
